visited a guy last night who is a true hi-fi nut. More quality gear than our local stores.

He had a BOSE integrated amp unlike any I've seen. It had a huge (maybe 8 inch) BOSE logo across the front in white. It was a touch sensitive power switch and when turned on , the whole logo glows.

He said it is a Japan only model and he bought it in Asia. Anybody know about these things ? Didn't get a model number and his English was weak.

I had/have a Bose pro amp. 200 or 250 per channel, 1970s vintage,

BIG

Started buzzing w/nothing attached , that reminds me my friend owes me for it ...:applaud:

This unit was made for Bose by BGW Systems.
Replace the tantalum caps on the printed circuit boards...

thanks, just to clarify to be sure , it is buzzing through the speakers not the amp unit itself.

Who can fix an Adcom gfa 555 blowing fuses?

Oh sorry I was unaware you’d found that site, looking around for this touch sensitive amp is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I was looking in Google image under “Bose integrated amplifier” and using other keywords like “vintage” on the end of it came up empty handed.

If you see this around your mates again try looking at the back of it or ask if you can undo the lid and see if there’s model number stamped visibly inside the unit.

Better while having another look around Google image. Just take a picture of it next time round and post here for all to see.

He said it was a "Japan only" model. When I was there and HK and Taipei, there was so much electronics models that were never exported. Feels like the high end stuff stays there.
