Hello all! I'm so glad I found this forum. There are a lot of interesting topics on here!!

Alright, I just bought 2 (used) JBL SR 4752, A (used) BST CDD 356 - Generation 6, A (used) Audio-Technica AM 400 Stereo Mixer, and a (used) Sony MiniDisc Deck MDS - JE 500 'Sample Rate Converter'
The package didn't come with an AMP, currently I'm using my own home stereo as an AMP. (if you guys recommend anything please let me know!!)

So, I have no clue where to start, the whole package came with NO wires, I just wanted to test it out and make sure everything is working, so I bought some "unexpensive" Connection wires.
I first connected my BST to my "AMP" and from the AMP I connected one of the JBL speakers to it. I tried connecting the Audio Technica to the BST but it wouldn't work, I also tried connecting it to the AMP but still, I couldn't figure out how to work it..
Also, how/what would I use the Sony Mini Disk for??

Thanks in advance everyone!!
=)

Slow down, pardner...

1. Do you know if the BSS CDD-356 works?
2. Where are you plugging it into the "AMP"?
3. What is the "AMP"?
4. Leave the Audio-Techinca out of the signal path for now.
5. Do the JBL's work when connected to your "AMP" (ome stereo)?

Hahaha, slowing down is wise =)

1) Yes sir, both CD's are working.
2) I am plugging the BST in the AUX of my Stereo.
3) The AMP (for now is) - my home stereo is an Aiwa CX-NA222 - with only 90 Watts, its delivering MASSIVE sound - thanks for the JBL's they're AWESOME!
4) Okay, but I really want to be able to fade from CD's back and forth...
5) Yes, both JBL's are working like a charm, can't wait to connect both to a powerful amp!!

Thank you so much for your reply Boputnam!

I tried connecting the Audio Technica to the BST but it wouldn't work, I also tried connecting it to the AMP but still, I couldn't figure out how to work it...Have you got the manual - have you tried to find in on their website?

My guess is, without knowing the "gear", the BSS should go into an input on the A-T, and the A-T should then go into the AUX input on the consumer integrated amp. But, you need to know how to select the input on the A-T and make sure you are feeding some output signal to the integrated amp...

It didn't come with a manual and I did a little research on the net but I couldnt even find my model anywhere!!!

Oops sorry I actually connected the A-T to the BST and I could get music out of the headphones plug ON the A-T itself (look at the picture - bottom right, there is a jack for phones) but I couldn't get it to go from there to the amp then to the speaker..
I noticed that it won't because, there is only 1 output for each of the BST playing disks.. So if I connect one of those to the A-T I won't be able to take it back to the amp FROM the BST unless there are splitters sold somewhere for just audio cables..

:hate-pc:

Oh, I heard the Mini Disk are like High Definition Sound, so their better than using regular CDs???

(also attached, below). It ain't much, but the thing isn't that complicated...

One of us is confused about the signal path - just for fun, I'm gonna take a guess and say it's you. ;)

The signal path goes like this:

CD tracks
→ BST CDD player (dual bay)
→ A-T AM400 four-channel mixer
→ AMP (or your home stereo AUX input)
→ JBL's

That BST is a dual bay unit - there should be TWO separate outputs, one from each bay.
- Plug one BST ouput into A-T Channel One
- Plug the other BST ouput into A-T Channel Two.
- Plug the A-T outputs into the AMP (or home stereo AUX input)
- You control the gain of each BST by the separate "Channel" faders on the face of the A-T.
- You control to overall "mixed" gain of the A-T using the "Master" fader on the face of the A-T.
- Make sure the little buttons for each "Channel" on positioned on "phono" - that would be line-level input impedance for the channels (you do not want "mic" on these unless you are using a "mic" on these...)

Get it?

There's some " spinners" over here on the Ever Hear a Decent DJ Sound System? thread - maybe you should introduce yourself. They know tonnes more about this gear than I do...
