Wow. I thought I did well when my 4411s sold for ~$800.00. Those Infinity speakers are selling for more than new...

Completely insane.

I picked up the 3 way 10" SM115 at a clearance center for $200 back in the day.

Sold them 2 years later for about the same.

Should have held on to them, but, well....they sucked.:o:

SM's are the cheap stuff for sure. I was an Infinity owner when the Kappa series first hit the market place. I used to own a pair of Kappa 7's they were quite the speaker. They still hold their value today (high) if in good to mint condition. Top of the line at the time in the Kappa series was the Kappa 9's. (very nice, and great sounding)

NO AFIL:

These are second gen. Kappa 7's

I had first gen at a retail of $1500.00

Wow, that's wild! But come on, a 15.75" woofer?!?! Dat's way bettah!!

I recall way back in the deep, dark, 20th century, circa 1970, that Infinity had a very extensive line of speakers, all kinds of models, vaguely similar to the many models JBL had out then. What ever happened to those? Sure, the Reference series and most models with EMITs and EMIMs are classics, but they came later.

I don't know Infinity history very well, though I respect them, does anyone know what I'm referring to?

Infinity is now owned by Harmon which owns JBL. I don't know guys but I have a pair of the SM155's in black and they are not cheap. The sound is incredible and the bass is unbelieveable.:p

Jim...

If you took the drivers out of the SM's you'd see why the eBay prices are just stupid.

Vinyl wrapped enclosure, stamped frame drivers.....not worth those prices in the least....but hey...it's an auction. Seller got a great deal.

I know what you mean Edgewound that's, probably why I never took the driver's out to investigate, I would be afraid that I made a wrong decision.

I bought my pair which are the fronts for my big screen tv and I have to tell you they sound excellent and will take any power you throw at them.

You are right though about the vinyl, it sucks!

Wow...and those are about the WORST speakers Infinity ever made, too! No cabinet bracing whatsoever! One big piece of crap. Boy, what a lucky seller! lol I hope I can find a pair around here locally that I can flip for 3000%!

Hi all,

What are these SMxxx series woofers' cone material? Is it a polypropylene cone with a coloring agent so its not white or translucent like previous Infinity versions (RS types)? I always hated seeing the yellow or tan colored spider and frame because they were just ugly and revealed the stamped frames and you could really see the actual small size of the voice coil. (not that size really matter to all of us, does it? Assuming well engineered for the price point? I guess it really is important!!)

Or was the material something else?

Regards,

bart

The woofers and mids are a polymer coated paper. Tweeters are polycell foam.

So how did they fit them in a torpedo tube?

I think the transition/purchase of Infinity by Harman International was back in the late 80's early 90's if I'm not mistaken. ? Also when I was selling the gear the SM series was the cheap S#$T. (vinyl wrapped crap)The step up was into the Kappa series. We used to take naps in the big SM series boxes on break. I think the shipping boxes were built better than the speakers themselves.

Hey I need someone to place a decoy bid on some model 24 KLHs for, hmm.... lets say...800?!! Now, I'll handle all the sellers fees. then we'll wait a weeker2
Then, just at the right time, when all schools headed for "KLH!" I'll drop them again right in the middle of the frenzy, and ....POP! ching $$$$ :nutz:
and/or snatch up all the ones that don't get any bids:nutz: :nutz:

camon ...give me a break :screwy:

It appears that the high bidder on one of those auctions was a bunk bidder who has a total of -2 feedback. He bid on some other items and has not paid for those as well.

His name is "rushposterdude" and you may want to block this dude from bidding on your stuff before you fall victim to this idiot as well.
