Go back a little further.

Try a pair of JBL L100s, for example.

Yeah. L100 is a large bookshelf. Thanks for suggestions. I had a pair of J216A's which I really liked. That was smallish.

What does the survey say about the L15 or L46?

I think l26's are techincally bookshelves. but for nice small ones the j216a's are a decent bookshelf.

Here's a listing for some 216A in Indiana, I emaied them to find what model and was told they are 216a's. If you want to go that route again since you previously owned them before and you liked them.

I'm biased but I love the 4313Bs hands down. Another pair that is butt ugly but smaller than the 4313Bs are the 8612s. They can be had for under $100 a pair and I challenge anybody to find a better bang for the buck.

A bit rare, but I'm rather fond of the L86 (8" 3 way) from that era. The L86 definately fits on a bookshelf and the sound is very good too.

L46, 4301b and L19. Have all three and highly recommend. If you want to get real small the L15 is probably the smallest.

Those L-86s look a lot like my fav L-112s. If they can approximate that sound, I'm very interested.

Those are SWEEEEEEEEET looking. L-15's are my latest choice in a bookshelf. I'm still waiting for them, the fricken USPS lost my check. They might arrive someday???????

I've both speakers; the L86 shares its midrange (the LE5-12) with the L112. Since they are of the same product line and era, the L112 sounds similar to the L86, but the L112 also has (obviously) better/deeper bass response and thus sounds a bit richer and fuller. However, they have the same "voice".:)

If you can find a pair of L86, definately give them a listen and a chance.:bouncy:

I have seen a few pairs of 4208's and they don't fetch much, here's a UK pair:

A year ago, I managed to pick up a pair of active LSR25P's for £125 and think they are great (not early 80's though). I have them sitting in a corner unit in the kitchen and the bass loading at that location really gives them great low-frequenciy "punch" (most listeners assume there's a sub hidden away :))
