I am trying to find out the history of a JBL M-31 spkr. I understand it was used in musical instrument amplifiers. Is it the same as a D-130 ? If not what are the differences? Also approximately when was it manufactured? I look forward to a response. Thanks.

The JBL M31 was manufactured for use in the Peavey Session 400 Guitar amp.

It was baically an alnico D130 and was available in 4 and 8 ohm versions.

Found this, re dating... hope that helps some:

"... There should not be a Session 400 amp earlier than a 1974, unless
a prototype is floating around the country somewhere. Thanks for your interest.
