Hello,

I might be going out to look at/purchase a pair of these tomorrow. The seller is asking $200. How do these sound?

Thanks,

Matt

Like L100s; they are the pro version, with ferrite-magnet drivers:

[O.K., "Adolescentized," then.... :p ]

Classic JBL Rock speaker from the 70's. Bring some music you know well with you. Their response in tailored and not flat. You set them up right and they can sound pretty good.

I aqgree with Rob. They are good speakers and for that price you can't lose.

Classic JBL pro rock monitor. Had a pair for many years and passed them on to my brother who is keeps them going strong. Excellent price if no major issues.

Just got a pair of these myself. The woofers need surrounds. Is it a crime against humanity to use foam? If it makes a large difference I will do it right, but I am not going for full restoration here, just good loud JBL sound.

Los Angeles. Near OC Speaker.

before I shoot my mouth off any more... are you sure they are the right bass drivers?
a 2213H needing a new surround is slightly unusual unless they've been damaged
(squished, punctured, totally dried out and splitting, ...) In any case, OCSpeaker
should be able to tell you what your options are. -grumpy

I haven't seen them. The guy wanted a very low price and I trust him so I paid him. He says the woofers and mids need to be "reconed". So I won't know until I get them. As is usually the case, the seller likely doesn't know how to asses it. I talked to OC and they said $200 for OEM JBL, $125 for aftermarket per low freq driver. I was afraid to ask about the mids.

Recone probably means "blown," not resurround.

There's other resources down there. One member near your recommends Don Ramon instead.

OCS is overpriced, in my opinion....

Thanks I'll get in touch with Mr. Ramon.
