They sound great but:
Are very inefficient
Have trouble handling high ppower
lack bass response
on the plus side they ARE classics and bound to be valuble in the future. I would get a better sub. Look up ebay user "litekeys" as he has mag parts, upgrade kits, and even a better sub for them.

If your not into powerfull bass, or if your into jazz and classical Maggies maybe just right. Some Maggie owners are die hards when it comes to those speakers.

"This is a private listing. Your identity will not be disclosed to anyone except the seller."
Why is this auction a "Private Listing"? Personally they are a red flag in my book... I would never bid on one. Since you have shared the back story with us, I know you aren't trying to pull a fast one but just the same, it does seem odd to use this auction form.

I have had people come in and try to sell or scam bidders or past bidders on high end stuff that I was selling. This just eliminates all of that for my bidders. I do this to protect my bidders. You should reconsider your position.

I'd prefer to err on the side of caution.
Good luck with your auction.

To each his own my friend....
I have purchased a few rather high end autographed items on EEEEEEEPPPAAAY and not only do I research the actual signature to make sure it is the real deal but I will only bid/purchase if it is a "Private" auction (Wich most are) as I do not want or need anyone else to know what I am buying.
I'd prefer to err on the side of caution.
Good luck with your auction.

If it matters I stay away from private auctions also. With Ebay's new policy of hiding bidders it should not be needed any longer I would think...

PS this slso works for "bump" :)

FWIW to this discussion on Private Listings .

- eBay is now actively shielding ( hiding ) the name of all bidders in their general ( regular-style ) auctions once the auction gets over a $200. threshold.
- Only the seller can see the names of those bidding in their auction .
- ( ie; a bidder won't know who they are bidding against ).
- At the end of the auction, the winning bidders' identity is revealed ( to the casual browser ) while those unsuccesful bidders will still remain anonymous.
- This new rule should have obvious implications for those who might suspect that they are victims of shill bidding ( now those suspicions will be suppressed before they can even be engaged / thanks to eBay ) . :o:

That is almost the same thing as a "private" auction. A smart move on the bays part.
I noticed an auction the other day on a Barbara Lewis LP were the person that that knocked it up to over $155.00 had an 80% bidding ratio with the seller, an obvious shill bidder.
Hopefully EEEEEPPAAAYY will now step in and do something about those weasels but probably not.

EPay pays lip service to shill bidding but it's hard to prove, make eBay more money through higher prices, and if your using a proxy bid you should be willing to go as high as your max bid anyway (according to their rules). SInce many people have cried to ebay about being shilled, this was the best way to prevent it, by removing the evidence someone might use to allege being pushed up.
EPay should just send them a link to auctionstealer.com and tell them to get smart about it.
They claim that hiding the bidders prevents second chance scams and other bufoonery but it's really helping them. If your thinking of striking up a dialog with a bidder and doing an off ebay deal hiding their identity forever makes it harder to do that. EPay does not like it when you deal directly with someone, they think any business you do with an eBay member is their business and a fee should be assessed.
Craigslist is looking better and better everyday.

In the 2nd or third auction under the new system, for some jbl stuff no less :) , I recieved a bugus 2nd chance offer!!
Now I can't see the shill bidders, the regulars who bid for "my" TI stuff :) but "The bad guys" still found out about me.
I don't like any hiding of bidding of any kind

Well again after almost 8,000 transactions I am as happy and comfortable with eBay as I am going to be..

a bidder can increase their bid, but it shows up as a second bid, not an increase of the first bid.. If you decide to increase again it shows up as a third bid. Shills can pick the lower two off with no risk of being high bidder. This is another example of who Ebay is really looking out for. Of course, it's not my way of doing things, but I do see others pay more that way.
