Are these worth $100.00? The guy said they Are University JBL horns. Info would be greatly appreciated. Are these JBL horns? Who is University.
Who is University.
I can't help you with most of that. I never heard of a collaboration but that doesn't mean much. Are you serious? Who is university? Not that I'm knowledgeable
I'm really not but University is a pretty old name in audio, particularly horns. Almost any quality early speaker diy publication will deal with university. I think later they became better known for paging than music but they definitely did music. Some people think quite well.

There is alot I haven't heard of and University being one of them. why did he list these as University JBL horns? Does it mean these were made by University for use in JBL cabinets or something? Thanks!

It means that the seller doesn't know what he's talking about. Those are University, not JBL. Nothing to do with JBL. But Altec and University were both owned by the same parent company for a while.

University had a line of home hi-fi speakers and also sold drivers, horns and crossovers to the DIYer. 1950s and 60s was their heyday. One of their honchos Abe Cohen wrote a good speaker book that many of us old guys used.
Pretty good stuff, I dunno if it's worth $100 though. What's the stuff going for on ebay? Check finished auctions.
I didn't think they had ever been together but what I don't know takes up an awful lot more space than what I do. A few (maybe more) sellers throw the name JBL into their ad so you will hit on it while searching.

This makes sense after all the name JBL drew me to this ad.
