Hi gang, it seems like this is a really neat site for audiophiles. Unfortunately I am not one of them.

However, my father in law is. He is 75 and retiring and moving from Long Island down here to North Carolina.

In 1975 he bought JBL Model 4350 speakers. They are in excellent condition and like new (IHHO). He has the manuals and catalogs and everything that came with them. He says it has 2 15" woofers and 1 10" midrange a high frequency tweeter and a very high frequency tweeter. He says it is designed to be bi-amped... an amp for low frequency and one for high frequency and midrange.

Cabinet approximately 4 feet long and 3 feet high. It is a professional C line... studio moniters he says.

I have seen and heard the quality of sound coming from them and can attest it is nice.

He wants to sell, however he has no idea what they are worth. Neither do I. Surfing the web and googling has not brought any satisfactory answers. If you folks are interested in buying, let me know. At the least can you give me an estimate of what you think they are worth or a site I can go to get an idea of the value of these moniters.

He also has other audio equipment he wants to sell such as reel to reel and other such stuff. I'll post those as the information becomes availible.

Thanks for you time.

pBluescript.

Hey, pBluescript...

If what you say is true, they should find some interested parties here, I would think. Pricing is less clear, althought I think the range Audiobeer speaks of is in the realm of possibilities.

It sounds like you've not seen these bad boys - here's a picture that features the 4350B, and it's lesser 1980-vintage breathren. Whoa...

Look forward to you posting the other gear he might be selling, too!

Hi pBluescript

The 4350 was introduced in 1974. After only one year, it was replaced by the 4350a. Since your father purchased his stystem in 1975, there is a chance that he bought the original version. You can tell by the fact that the original has white woofers as shown below. Later versions have dark grey woofers.

The original is extremely rare and would command the most money. However, the demand is strongest in Asia, so you may have to deal with the issue of overseas shipping. Even if it is a later version, the previously suggested value of $5,000 is realistic if it is in excellent condition. My guess is that the reason the system Audiobeer mentioned has still not sold is because it is listed locally. The very few times I have seen 4350's on Ebay, they have generated very active bidding. If you can get pictures of the system posted here, it would help in nailing down the value.

Thanks for replying everybody.

Robh3606, they live in Bayport... and would be willing to let them see the stuff. If you are interested, I will email you their address and phone number.

$5000 !! Is that per speaker or for the pair??

Don, my father in law says those speakers are exactly what he has except that his cones are black. He explains the reason they are black is that he had them reconed by JBL about 8 years ago.
The reason they were reconed is because the foam suspension decomposed over time. He also wants me to comment they these speakers have al-nico magnets.

Like I said I will post other equipment he has available when I get the information.

That would be the pair. But again, they have a limited market, even though many lust after them. They are just sized too large for most to get their head (or family room) around...

So what is the 'WHITE CONE"? I may have those white cone assemblys laying around that are in need of foam edges. What is the model of the white cone woofer?

Hi pBlue:

My name is Andy Pennella, and I live in Stamford, CT. Your 4350's are a winner - rare, and they sound fab. I am also a reel-to-reel guy, and would be interested in pro tape gear or tapes. Please email me back with particulars.

Tnx & HNY,

Andy
