Man, that is a lot! It does make it tempting to pull 'em and sell 'em.

It's probably just a phase the 044ti is going through. They'll come back to earth.

Really! What's a 240ti worth intact? The seller got $1034.71 for the drivers.

The woofers? I bid them up to $277.00 because I need them but I don't need them that bad. Cost $90.00 ea. plus to re-foam + shipping. At that total that puts you into a new set of LE14H-3's. But if one is trying to stay 100% stock/original I guess there is no limit.
I paid $186.00 plush shipping for the last one I bought on e-bay, and it was O.E.M. 100% perfect and working. Original foam!!!!!!

you know, in situations like this, you used to be able to retract your bid and correct it......

just thinking aloud....

Egad! That's twice what I have in two complete pairs of the things, including four refoams and a NOS replacement diaphragm on an 044Ti.

Looking for screwdriver...

I just don't get the way that whole systems are (generally) worth less than the parted out components.

I know that the seller of my 250Ti's really found them REALLY hard to sell here in the UK. One of the reason I bought them was the seller was about to eBay them and I knew there was good chance of them being parted out if he went down that route. And that's a crazy lose of some JBL history.

p.s. the 044Ti really is a great driver, I just wasn't expecting such good sound from a metal dome driver designed in the 80's

You can retract your bid but not quickly, I bid wless than a minute to go , takes longer to undo. The tweeters are extra, maybe i can sell them 400 or more :)

I just don't get the way that whole systems are (generally) worth less than the parted out components.Simple, really:

Different people want different parts, not the system, and will pay a premium not to have the hassle of parting and reselling the rest themselves.

This also means, if you ARE willing to take on the hassle, you can get the parts you want at a discount by selling off the rest of the system in pieces to folks wanting THOSE parts.

[Kingjames don't want 6 pair of 240tis to mess with, is what.... :p ]

My little brother parts out VW bugs. He says the parts are worth 5X the value of the whole car.

I read this from GM also. $10k car wud cost $50k to build from replacement parts.

Auto salvage yards are a big business. Many an eBayer is making a living with their own audio salvage yard.

2405 tweeters have gone over 1K a pair, the 044Ti might be the next pair of tweeters to hit the G note.

Once again we have the real question are the drivers worth it? There are some excellent tweeters being produced by a lot of companies for that much money which are arguably better, or at least under warranty and serviceable. parts for these old tweeters are NLA from JBL so if you blow them you might have a problem getting parts.

Even the aluminum dome 044 tweets can bring in big bucks from time to time.

LE15A's have doubled to tripled in value overnight. E140 and 2225 baskets are quietly creeping up in value. If you're in need of some of the old parts, you may not want to wait. I made that mistake with a minty set of blue LE15's last summer. I bailed at $400 because they needed surrounds and shipping would have run my final cost to roughly $560 a pair. I figured I'd bid on the next pair that came around. They sold for $405. That same pair would hit a least $1000 considering current market conditions.

Live and learn!

Yeah, supply/demand... Lot's more people need a specific part out there. Not so many need a whole intact 250ti system. And don't get me started about the shipping cost.....! Just sold a pair of L100S like mint condition with original boxes, I refoamed the 2214H-1's... perfect, good to go.. Got $280.00 and it took well over a month of finding a buyer. Several calls, but few showed up.. with cash... had a couple of flakes who wanted to trade junk.... I could have blasted the parts out in a few days for perhaps more Wampum.. But I had not the heart to "break-it-up" it was such a beautiful set. Now they will make music together as Mr. Lansing would have wanted.
