250ti acting funny?

I was cranking up the 250's today and noticed that with some source material, the mid-range drive (#2 driver down from the top, 3 from bottom) was sounding like there was an odd vibration. I got up close to it and the sound was kinda like a rubber band vibrating, or something like that. It did it on both speakers. Anybody had this happen to them?

Start by making sure that the screws are all tight. It could also be a wire touching the cone from the inside.

Kinda weird both drivers do it. The screws are tight, I'll pull them off next to see about the wires.

Could it be that you are flat out over driving them... or clipping your amp?

The amp is a Mac with 105 watts, volume never gets over 50%If by 50% you mean the volume knob is rotated to 12:00, it is quite likely that you are clipping that rather low powered amp... I say rather low powered because the 250ti isn't a terribly sensitive design. They do really well with 200wpc or more. With many sources, if the volume knob is set to 12:00, you are driving the amplifier at it's limit.

Is there a definitive way to tell if I am clipping? I am guessing I would need an ocilloscope. This amp is supposedly like 150 watts, Mac under rates them quite a bit.
