Hi guys, I'm looking for 3 sets of 15'' cork gaskets for my Altec 604e duplex speakers. I have searched severall speaker repair websites, the only thing they offer is black-rubber gaskets. Can anyone help me with my "gasket problem"
Thanks, Dirk

Hi, I can't help you in the cork department, I have tried several times to order them from JBL, but had no luck.

For my DIY 2235 woofer boxes I found some very nice adhesive backed thin foam from Parts Express, that is designed for mounting speakers. Much better than the normal weatherstripping type stuff that is too thick for this application.

Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

You can buy rolls of cork gasket from most autoparts supply stores. Take standard cardboard gaskets and jig up a bandsaw so you can trim them to the right thickness minus the thickness of the cork sheet, glue them to the cork and trim. Hope this helps!

Have you tried Great Plains Audio yet? I would bet that Bill probably has the correct cork gaskets...

Great Plains Audio has a website... just put "great plains audio" as a search string in Google or whatnot; you should find them posthaste.

Gordon.
