Hi to all ,excellent forum ! I have had a set of jbl 250 ti powered by a citation 7.1 for a couple of years and am know looking to add a sub.I have a chance to buy the B-460.Is this the ultimate woofer to own with these speakers or are there others that are better? I have a 2nd citation 7.1 and would use that to power the sub, any info would be appreciated.

Rob and Zilch, are you both Geminis? You're thinking and acting as one.

hnm1, the Citation 7.1 is a wonderful amp, the successor to the Fosgate Audionics 4125 one of the most bulletproof, multichannel, bridgeable amps of all time.

The B460 is an impressive sub, made to go with the L250. Since the LEH14-1 woofer in both the L250 and 250Ti crossover at 400 Hz, the B460 will integrate virtually the same with either. By the time the 250Ti was in its later stages of production, there were other JBL subs that didn't take up as much real estate or weren't as visually dominant as a B460, but as I said, it is quite impressive. If you can get one, it is a piece of history and still highly desired by many.

Be sure you get the BX63a crossover with it. It's a separate unit, a little black box.

I was just checking out the picture of the B460 on page 4 of the catalogue and thought for minute...is that a DAT case shown on top of the cabinet.

Hang on, they weren't around then and then realised it's a full size cassette case...oh that thing is BIG !!

"Hmn1", what's the price of the one you are looking to buy?

Either way, it takes up a lot of space. It's not only wide and deep, it's pretty darn tall, too.

I like my sub, and think it will be a good match with the Ti250
I use mine with a pair of 4430.
You can see some pictures of my things on this link:

I have tried with different placing of the B460, and I even tried to put it on the side in the corner. WOW, then you realised how big it is.
Standing like it is supposed to, I dont find it dominating. It is actually a nice piece of furniture.

I would have thought $1,500 is a good price if it's in good condition. If it is in excellent condition and has the BX63 crossover then you could be getting a bit of a bargain perhaps?

I understand the type of crossover has a bearing on price but others here can advise if you find out what the seller has/hasn't got. Do a search for B460 on this forum and you may get some prices paid over the years. Here's one I turned up in 60 seconds worth of searching.

Hmmm, after reading that I think you should buy it provided the condition and crossover are all OK.

Is the seller local to you?

If everything checks out ok you will never lose any money on the B460, they are rare and desirable. Still kicking myself on passing on a local sale of a B460 for $800 or b/o.

Personally, I'd love one and would be prepared to pay $1,500 if a decent one ever came up. I reckon you could count the total number of B460's in the UK/Ireland on one hand!

Is there any way of getting photos from the seller to post here?

I would have paid 1500 if I had the money and that the speaker were in very good condition. And including the BX63/63a

I would love to have a second one, but for all the years I have followed ads (12 years or so) I have only seen one for sale here in Norway. And that is the one I have.

Rob:)
Can the B460 be used with the JBL L250ti speakers? Just curious. If so, how would I hook the 460 up? Let me know. Thanks.

After all these years, the 2245H is still an excellent VLF device. Still hard to find something better than one of these properly implemented. Two of them is the way to go.
