Hi

Just wanted to know, what kind of Acoustic Treatments some
of you may have been implementing in your listening environment.

In USA and UK, i think there is usual to have carpets, what do
you call them, carpets that are glued on the floor..

In Sweden we call them "heltäckningsmattor" haha

What about Thickness? Once i worked in UK, there was carpets
all ower the floors, in all rooms, also in the bathroom, when you
came out from the shower  DISCUSTING..
although, no carpet in the citchen haha!

Well well, about the thickness, the UK carpet was some 1,5cm thick WOW, this must have some kind of BIG improvement on
the sound i think.

:)

maybe I´l invest in a carpet for my listeningroom, not 1.5cm thick.

There is a really great material, nice looking

SISAL

natural thing, i think it´s made from cactus :p

well well

The thing with carpets is to gain some improvements
where theres echo, the carpet then would absorb some
soundenergy, NOT NOT NOT mouch, actually little energy
will be absorbed, but there is SOME.. so..

And, there can be "diffusing" effects if the carpet is structured.
Although it will diffuse WERY high frequencies becouse of the
small small textures.

BUT

it´s SOME, and SOME will make a difference in sound.

Hello Niklas

I really have not done much with mine. I would like to try some to see what improvements I can get. I think it's better than it should and I got lucky or I am so used to it, with it's problems, I can't see the forrest for the tree's. I think I get some dampening of my bass modes because of the way the walls are constucted. None of this was planned just the way it was put together. I am in a basement so my outer walls and floor are concrete. The ceiling is the upstairs oak floors. The actual inroom walls are insulated sheetrock about 6 inches out from the concrete with insulation and an air space. The walls are soft so they vibrate but don't buzz. Ceiling is acoustic tile floor is area rugs. Its not bad no boomy modes in my listening position and the rear walls are staggered that and a stair case help break things up. Well I am stuck with it in any case and I quess as long as I can live with it I should be happy cause some rooms in the house are just dreadful. My livingroom is horible. Don't know if its the floors and the plaster walls or what but it has very strong room modes. Very difficult to place speakers anywhere in the room without them sounding bass heavy. Your room looks nice enjoy it.

Rob :)
