First off, the knowledge base here never ceases to amaze me.

My dad has a pair of L-300’s that he has had for many years. I want to know if these are early units, or later units. How can I tell?

Are the push connector lugs a tell tale sign, is the beige grille cloth a give away, do I need to remove a driver to tell?

Thanks for the advice.

You have to look at the serial numbers. Maybe there is someone here who knows the meaning of them.

One more thing. If the magnets on the woofers is alnico they are the original L300's.

Serial numbers might help .... mine are:
16816 & 16825 and were bought in March of 1978, so that might give you an idea. Also, mine have only the Model L300 designation on the nameplate, and not the Summit L300 designations that I believe were on earlier models.

There are experts on here that will help you out more.

Hi Ed, hi Dave,
