Is there any one who can tell me how far an E145 cone can travel without damaging the voice-coil?

Regards and a happy new year!

Hi Jakob,

the max. linear excursion is ±7.11mm. It can be gathered from this table:

Thank You Jan!

I've seen this table, and would like to know how far beyond ±7.11mm the voicecoil can travel before damage occur.

Thanks!

Jakob,

I will recommend to keep the 7.11 as your maximun travel.
There may not be immediate failure if your are exceeding the 7.11 mm but you may go behond the elastic limits of the different material of the suspension. This will finish, by reducing the life of your speaker with failure by fatigue.
As well I beleive that if you are not controlling the voice coil of the cone inside the magnet you will get a lot of distorsion or even loose control of the cone displacement. If you still need more power you will need to choose another drivers or more of them.

Good luck

I've seen it and was impressed but I don't recall the number. I do know that the literature that comes with the driver claims you can "move as much air as an 18 inch driver" I don't know what that means.
