Why would JBL supply an 8" driver that is supposed to be a D260 to Ampex, but use a totally different frame/casting ? I have yet to see a JBL MADE 8" driver that uses those 4 flared out mounting tabs. Are these for sure legit JBL product ? Why cast a totally different basket to label it for someone else.....makes no sense ?
:bs:

Help ! All you JBL encyclopedia's out there, this one really bugs me for some reason, Giskard, Zilch, Bo, Widget, Edgewound etc....I am looking in your direction. Inquiring minds want to know !

As I said in another thread, I don't recall ever seeing an 8" speaker come out of JBL that looked like that. I DO recall a modified D208 with a black anodized dome and two small felt circles on the dome that had a D260 label that we shipped to Altec.

We also supplied a D123 to Superscope for mounting in their clamshell speakers for use with their stereo tape recorder.

They look nothing like JBL's 8" drivers.
