Hello to you all.

As you can see this is my first post. I have been lurking on and off for a few years. I am finally building my dog house (The place I go to listen to my stereo since I don't have room in my real house). One wife + two big speakers = my new dog house! :)

Anyway I am really a novice at this stuff and would like some advice.

I would like to know if and when the magnets on vintage D-130 speakers need to be re-magnetized for top performance and how do you check them?

Also can someone recommend a place to have them re-coned ? One of my speakers is cracked around the edges.

Are there any other tests you can recommend for these speakers,

I look forward to learning from you all.

For CA reconing, it's forum member Audivex in the north, or member Edgewound in the south. Both are JBL factory authorized service facilities.

It's unlikely your magnets require recharging, but the factory in Northridge will do that for something like $25 apiece if you send them there. Reconing at the factory will be more expensive, however....

Welcome to the forum.
