A picture might help ... doesn't sound familiar.
L150 maybe ... looks sort of like an L100 with a passive radiator ???
or L220 or 222 or ... never heard of an L350. -grumpy

You mean the J350 ? It would be a mid 80's mid-fi 3-way that might *look* (from the front, at a distance, with a good buzz on) like a L300, but it sure as hell won't sound like one.

More like a homemade L320 than L350...and depending on the cab and crossover, probably not an improvement over L220.

tomThe S300 was fairly common back then as was adding the PR15C. The S300 kit went for $915 plus $55 for the PR15C for a total of $970. 136H, LE85, 077, HL92, LX300, PR15C. People usually bought the S300 kit along with the EN5 for a total kit price of $1,165. The L300 went for $1,395 at that same time.

Hello Mr. Giskard,

Long time no talk to! (I've been pretty busy and haven't been on here too much lately). I find this thread rather interesting. I too was unaware that this system existed. Not surprisingly, you know the history of it. I looked at the photo, and the cabinet didn't really appear homemade to me, or if it was, it was a pretty good job, with rounded corners, etc. And from what you say, these are the identical components used in the venerable L300, with the addition of the PR15C. So, I am compelled to ask-did you ever have an opportunity to hear what these sound like? It would seem to me that, provided the enclosure is properly designed, that this system would offer some benefits, combining the fine components used in the L300, with the advantages of the tower design ala L220. (As you know I am a longtime L220 owner). One obvious difference from the L300 is that this would not be a vented system as was the L300, instead utilizing the PR15C. But it would seem that with the 136H with passive radiator, and the great midrange of the horn-loaded LE85, and with raising the 077 to a more ideal listening height (similar to the L220 with the 076), that this would not be a system to be readily dismissed! Another question I would have would be whether those L-Pads are the real McCoy with large knobs, or cheapies added by the user.

I'd be interested in your views on the overall design of this system, and if you have heard them, what your impressions were. I await your opinion with interest.

Best regards,

Peter
