Crown Dc 150A and 300a question.

There just pop up one Crown Dc 150A and one Dc 300A for sale here in Sweden. Are they good amp´s to feed 2 x 2235h and 2 x 2450j drivers.

The DC 300 a is a very good amp for the low bass reproduction. I am using one since years on 2231. The problem is the DC output this amp does produce when an end transistor says good bye. Use this amp with an aftermarket DC preventer kit. Velleman makes them. I just had a pair of 2235 reconed that were destroyed many years ago by a DC 300. They are reliable in general.

I do not know anything about the 150.

I just had a pair of 2235 reconed that were destroyed many years ago by a DC 300. Anyone know if this is also true of the Series II or even the A-series of these amps? I've used an original D150 (no faceplate, early version) since new to power my 030s and L112s, alternately, with no problem for over 32 years. I did have one D150A-II fry a transistor while connected with no damage to my 4412As. It was a new-to-me amp so I can't speak to it's history, but it was repaired inexpensively and is working fine now. I've been powering my 030's for the past four years or so with a DC300A-II with no complaints. I find them superior to anything else I've ever used, as limited as that experience may be (Kenwood, Amber, McIntosh, Pilot, Fisher SA-1000, Phase Linear). I'm equally happy with the PS-series Crowns.
