I have heard there’s a new article written by Dr. Floyd Toole, on using 4 sub bass units to smoothen out the bass response. If so is this article currently published over the Internet?:)

This is the seminal work, which I've referenced many times (here and elsewhere) as my bible of sub deployment.

Then there's this well-known interview by Dr. Toole and Todd Welti as the follow up to the white paper.

Todd Welti and Allan Devantier published a paper on the topic with AES in May:

If you're not an AES member, it'll cost you $20 to read it.

LOL, no mate high numbers to you too mate well done:applaud: we must all work together if where to discover the Holy Grail of Sub Bass in the home cinema, a more purer and more smoother response for a wide listening area.
There is a lot of mathematics in it that I don’t fully understand while the practical term of just simple placement in the room may solve the problems within a few minutes or more.

Geddes just wrote (June, actually, but published October) in a letter response to the AES Journal Welti & Devantier article that mounting "one of subs [of three total] above the room's centerline significantly reduces the variance of the field in both spatial and frequency domains."
"A paper is planned...."
So, our HT sub should be ABOVE the screen? :dont-know

LOL, the next thing you know it breaks away from the ceiling and bloody warring the damn thing! :D
You could build a false ceiling however, with enough support to take the weight, the calculated weight of the sub bass units that would be installed in the ceiling.
Question is, do you stick just the sub bass driver into the ceiling or the whole damn thing! I have seen the JBL in-ceiling sub bass don’t worry mate, it’s just this what design do you go with?

Na mate it will be ok, just make sure you stick a few extra supports under the ceiling!
