I have the speaker and woofer described above. I've had it for a very long time. Has been an excellent set. I've recently experienced a buzz on deep bass from the one speaker. Upon inspection I notice the "foam" around the edge of the speaker has deteriorated. Would this be a reason for the buzz/destortion during deep bass? Where could I find a quality replacement foam? I *think* I might be able to do the foam replacement myself.

Is it possible for this to be repaired or replaced? Is there a good after market replacement woofer unit? I visited the JBL site and it doesn't appear this speaker is available any longer. I don't know much about speakers, so any help is greatly appreciated. The cabinets are in great shape.

Also I pulled the 2 wires off the speaker without noting them *doh*. Is it critical to put them back in the same location? I assume it is *blush*. Again thanks for any and all advice.

Definitely do-able. I've done exactly that: http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=35167&postcount=1

There's a more comprehensive set of details posted in another thread by Bo Putnam: http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=3110&postcount=1

You should be OK on the connectors - I believe they're different sizes or gender.
