I HAVE HAD A SET OF L88P/M12 WITH BROWN FOAM GRILLS AT MY MOTHERS FOR YEARS. LOOKING AT THEM SPEAKERS SEEM PERFECT WHITE CONE BASS NO MARKS OR CRACKS. THE FOAM GRILL IS BROWN SQUARES IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. SOME SMALL SCRATCHES ON BOXES THAT COULD BE RUBBED OUT AND OILED. I BOUGHT USED SPARINGLY FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. AND HAVE BEEN IN STORAGE SINCE. HOW CAN I TEST TO SEE IF SITTING HURT THEM
I'M NOT AN AUDIO BUFF BUT LIKE MUSIC
THANKS JIM

Other than obvious external damage (you didn't see any?), there's not a lot
to go bad just having them set. L-pads (controls) can corrode a bit. If you
notice sound not coming through one of the speaker elements, turn the
controls back & forth a few times. I'd hook 'em up and play. Other than that,
caps can go bad, the goo can run from the woofer surround, the foam
around the tweeter typically rots, and the midrange can have voice coil
problems (or so I've read ... I've only had two of those problems). They
should clean up nicely. Enjoy.
