Having blundered around this forum for a couple of years I have noticed very little information or mention of the big Aquarius. I know they were not a tremendous commercial success for JBL but they sure were pretty.
I had a pair of the Aquarius 4 for a good few years and loved them.
Purely out of curiosity does anyone have these what is in them? What is behind that grille etc.

I guess this could be why your new speakers seem to be part of that family .;)

Yeah I already scoped out the Heritage section but it is very sketchy on the 120. Surely there is some more detail somewhere. Pics anyone ? What is behind that grille ? I presume an Le10 bass driver but what else. What did they do with the tweet for 360 dispersion etc.
Just curious you understand I'm not about to build them.......yet !!

- Oops ,, sorry, didn't even pickup on that "120" bit in your topic header . :o:
- In fact , I didn't know of the L120(s)' existence until now.
- & of course, now that I know that I don't know - I need to know. :D

:blah:

In fact, the relative success of this design led to a subsequently larger variant that was introduced in 1975. This was the three-way L120 Aquarius Q.

I knew that they had an L designation from years ago but i have never seen a pair in the flesh.
Come on people someone has to have some info ---:(

I read the article and immediately wanted some Aquarius 3's. Was all ready to start eBay searches, until I read that there were only 4 pairs produced. Guess that kills my chances of finding some ?

From an old reference chart listing JBL "System Components" .

L120: Woofer; 125A ,,, Mid; LE5-6 ,,, Tweeter; LE25-3 ,,, Cabinet; C120
L120-A: Woofer; 125A ,,, Mid; LE5-6 ,,, Tweeter; LE25-5 ,,, Cabinet; C120-A

That's all I know.
