Without any fuss David J McBean has updated his program for calculating horn loudspeakers (Version 11.00):
http://www.users.bigpond.com/dmcbean/

Horn systems can have an oblate spheroidal waveguide, a single spherical, tractrix or Salmon's family hyperbolic-exponential flare segment, or up to four conical and/or exponential flare segments in series, coupled to a throat chamber, loudspeaker driver and acoustically lined or vented rear chamber. Horns with multiple drivers and arrays of multiple loudspeakers can be modelled.
You may use it for free - it's great IMHO. :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:

Thanks, Peter!

Maybe V12 is a little more idiot-friendly.....;).....we'll see.

No input of velocity and density of air, but max. amp power and output resistor of amp (or one of your one or two ohm resistors in your pocket ;) ).

Calculating of maximum SPL in dependency of amp power and max cone excursion (frequency dependend).

Here you can find a 18 Hz Sub simulation:

David McBean goes on developing and fixing HORNRESP. Latest release is version 18.30 (http://mywebsite.bigpond.com/dmcbean/Setup.exe).
At www.diyaudio.com (http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=119854&perpage=25&pagenumber=2) he points out a possible user failure:

David McBean:
Please note that the program automatically updates an existing data file as necessary with each new release. Once a data file has been opened using a particular version of Hornresp, under no circumstances should that file then again be used with an earlier version of the program. The safest course of action is to delete any earlier version of the program that you may be using, each time you download a new release.___________

Hello,

My first post here. I've downloaded Version 28...now, is there some place I can go for a tutorial, or to see some examples, of how to use it? :crying:

Thanks and Regards,

Horn Loudspeaker Response Analysis Program

This Windows-based application calculates the theoretical acoustical impedance, acoustical power, electrical impedance, diaphragm displacement, phase response and group delay versus frequency characteristics of finite and infinite horn loaded loudspeakers. Finite horns radiating into free space, half space, quarter space or eighth space can be analysed
(4 x Pi, 2 x Pi, Pi or Pi / 2 steradians solid angle).
Horn systems can have an oblate spheroidal waveguide, a single Le Cléac'h, tractrix, radius, spherical wave or Salmon's family hyperbolic-exponential flare segment, or up to four conical, exponential and/or parabolic flare segments connected in series, coupled to a throat chamber, loudspeaker driver and acoustically lined or vented rear chamber. Horns with multiple drivers and arrays of multiple loudspeakers can be modelled.
