Hello.

I have a thought about to make a 3 way speaker with a 2226h on top, 2446h+ 2382A in the middle and a 2243h in the bottom. Am i stupid or ?
Am i winning something on this or is it better to have a separate sub beside ?

I have the speakers at home and i´m going to make a fiberglass box with a wood front in oak.

I have 4 2245h to help the 2243 when i look at a movie :D .

The crossover frek is 50 and 650 hz.

Please help me with some thoughts.

First off, you need to dump those old dated, 2245H's....PM me...I will try to salvage them :bs:Your project sounds fun. A little redundant in the low end, maybe...I would go with just 15's and add the 2245 18's for subs....at about 80 hz.....but I think more from a music playback low coloration standpoint, first, and movies second. In other words, I would leave out the 2243, unless it was a live sound system. You will probably like crossing the horns higher when you are done...like 800hz or so....the 2226 sounds better up higher, than the horns do lower (huh?) I don't care what the marketing sheets say, you will need a tweeter for music/movies above the mid horn. That's a pretty large task to cover all those octaves...2404 would do nicely. Pics would be nice when it gets going...:applaud:

Hi Matsj
I think you will find that the 2446h + 2382A combination will sound better if you use a higher crossover point of about 1,000 Hz. Soundboy suggested that you add a 2404 UHF driver into your project. But, actually a 2405 would a better match to the 2382A horn. If you compare the -6 db dispersion characteristics of the 2382A horn at 8,000 Hz to that of the 2405 UHF driver you will find that the dispersion characteristics match very closely. But, if you are not going to add a UHF driver to your project then you will need some equalization to boost the response above 8,000 Hz. I am going to assume that you are going to tri-amp this monster, so making changes to crossover points is going to be easy as turning a knob. So, I would suggest 100Hz and 1000Hz as good starting points.

Yes i will triamp it so it´s easy to change the crossover points.

I have the speakers playing now in separate boxes and i want to build a nice looking speaker.
The shape of the new boxes looks like jbl Ti10k.

I don´t think i will need a 2405 on top, i like how it sounds today with a little eq on top.

The big question is: Is it good to have the sub in the same speaker or should i have it separatly ??

I have made some drawings in microsoft visio but i don´t know why i can´t post them here.

Soundboy: I will not sell my 2245 in my hole life, Ha ha ha ha ha .

Design your cabinet to allow for adding a UHF driver....

Ok i will do that. How about the 075 ?
Is here someone who have made something simular to my project ?

So it´s not a problem with the sub in the bottom ?

075 is quite beamy, and doesn't have the UHF extension the others do.

As Baron suggests, 077/2405's a better match with your horn dispersion pattern.

Mr. Widget has Sub1500s in the bottom of his DIY speakers. Perhaps he'll have an opportunity to advise you on that part.

[My main sub's in another room; I can't qualify.... :p ]

I can´t deside how my new speakers should look like but i have this:

2 2446h
2 2382A
4 2226h
2 2243h

and 4 2245 subs.

Can somebody help me to design my new speakers. And i have found 2 2405 tweeters.

if you're talking about the 2245's, then I would build separate boxes for those and put everything else in one box.

But that's just me, since you are crossing over at 50 to the subs. That's what i do, I cross my subs around 50 to 60 and use different boxes.

sounds like a great project....good luck;)

I have bought 2 2405h to my project and i will go with 2405h on top and 2382A+ 2446h in the middle and 2 2226h in the bottom.
I save my 2243h to my synthesis S1S-ex copy boxes.
