difference between 127H, 127H-1, 127H-A1, etc....

I have a pair L26s with one woofer missing - so I need a single 125a. I searched this forum and find out that the 127a is the same but with the dust cap installed normally instead of inverted. I also read that some have put in 127H woofers from L40s (is that correct?) into L26s with no trouble, so these are the same. The JBL spec sheet even show the t/s parameters for the 127H as the same as the 125a and 127a, but not the same as the 127 H-2, H-3, or H-4. So I think I have this figured out....but.

I've attached two photos. The black framed pair are the 127H-1s (the seller actually calls them 127H-A1s ??) from L80ts. I've been offered to buy these, but I am unsure if these are the same as 127Hs (which we know = 127a = 125a).

The other pic with the bare aluminum cast frames is from a recent auction for what are supposed to be 127H-1s as well. They look different. Are these actually 127Hs, but the seller is hoping these are 127H-1s?

Any comments?

They're not the same, dimensionally different. They won't physically fit, based on the research I've done.


125A, 127A and 127H are the same frame.

127H-x are the modern black.

I thought so, but without seeing these woofers in person it is often hard to tell what you're getting. I'm sticking with getting a 125a or 127a.

The 127H is functionally interchangable (at least in a fundamental sense) with the 125A and 127A. The 127H-1 has a completely different magnet assembly (on top of the basket difference) which makes it effectively, a completely different woofer.

Getting a 125A or 127A is definitely the right plan. You can probably just use a 127A as-is, at least temporarily, and have decenly good sound match with the 125A... and if you want to make it right, recone it as a 125A. Then, it will be EXACTLY the same...

I've just finished completing my L26 Decade speakers with freshly refoamed original 125A boomers (they had been thrown away and changed to cheaper boomers by the previous owner…) but…
I'm probably dumb or blind or something but… I've been unable to find the exact specs of 125A's so far… I've searched the forum and even the various online L26 brochures… there's nowhere I can find its frequency range…
Any help would be apreciated.
