Hello!

I have a very nice pair of one-owner L-150a's that are nearly flawless except for a pushed-in dome on one of the 044 tweeters. I'd like to get some really nice 044s to replace them, but I seem to be having a hard time finding a new pair. Is there another similar tweeter that would be a good match to just drop in? I'd prefer not to have to hack the boxes up to do it.

Thanks!

I have not seen anything so far that avoids some modification of the baffle. The 044/066 units, if you don't know, are mounted from the back of the baffle. Great solid mountings (and good looks) make their installation rather unique. You might want to stay the course with finding a replacement.

I have the same speakers with the same problem. I gave up finding an affordable replacement. Even the last new diaphragm I saw on Epay went for about $90. I ended up getting a cosmetically challenged pair for pretty cheap and intend to either clean one of them up or rob its diaphragm for the smashed one. I'll try the cosmetic route first. Keep looking. They go in very odd cycles on Ebay. If you check right after I've bought something, that's when the good deals seem to pile up! :banghead:

Here's what I bought: Ebay "beautiful 044" (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9700280739), and here's what I got: LHF archive (http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=9952&page=2), and the story. But then I only have about $55 in them now. Keep trying.
