Hello, I want to buy 2 2220 to my Edgar horns but is there 2 versions on them ? ferrit and alnico magnets ?
I have also found 2 2205h but i dont know how big the diffrense is on them.
My first choice is the 2220 because the 101 db/1w :D and second 2205. How do i know if the alnico magnets are bad ?

regards mats

The ferrite version is the 2220H.
For recorded music reproduction, the 2205 would be my choice of the two.
The 2220 is better suited for live vocals....it doesn't do much below 60HZ.

Thank you 57belair. My edgar horns doesn´t play under 80hz so it works.
I can get a pair 2220a for 500$ and a pair 2205h for 250$.
Now i can´t deside what i should buy  , anymore opinions ?

I used a pair of 2205A's in a 100hz Edgarhorn with pretty good results.

Of course if I had a choice, I would probably pick the 2220's for the higher efficiency. They would probably work better in the long run.

I just happened to have the 2205's on hand at the time!

I have 80 hz edgar horns with 2226h today and want to try 2220 instead in advice from you spkrman57. I think i´ll try a pair of 400 hz tractrix horns from stereo-lab.de and a 2" driver on top. I don´t know which driver it would be?
I´m going to have this for 2 channels listening only besides my big home cinema. Maybe i build a small sub to it.

I have a friend who uses JBL 130As on his Edgar horns. They work quite well. The 130A was the predecessor to the 2220A... I would assume the ferrite 2220H is also similar.

As for knowing if your alnico magnets are OK? The sure bet is to get them recharged.
