Enclosure for JBL D140R

I have a plan to DIY the enclosure for driver JBL D140R (to play bass frequency in 2 way speaker system) but I don't know which kind of enclosure is the best. I wonder beween the Onken360l Cabinet or Bass reflex design by JBL for driver Le15A (8 cubic feet 914mm x 610mm x 406mm).

I also want to know the technical data of driver JBL D140R and which JBL's driver similar with D140R.

Nope, see line 6 for E140 here:

You'll not get extended LE15 bass outta D140. It's a musical instrument bass driver.

"R" means they were OEM'd to Rogers (organs,) I believe.

Are those 300B's????

Unfortunately the D140 only partner in the family of recones is the D130.

I saw the line 6 in your document, but I wonder that this Cabinet is too small, it’s only 4 cubic feet. Normally I think the Cabinet for JBL 15” driver is about 5-8 cubic feet. Can I use the 8 cubic feet for D140R?

I also saw in internet that technical data of d140, is it right?

Yeah, those are Power 300b=B mono block. My friend DIY that. I use that 300b to play fostex Fe206E for mid/high frequency (over 200hz). I intend to use a LM3875 chip amp (25w) to play D140r for Low frequency (under 200hz). I prefer power tube 845 for bass but it is too expensive.

This link say that I can use the cabinet (H883mm x W521mm x D464mm) for 2205, E140.... This about 8 cubic feet. So which cabinet is the best for d140r? 4 or 5 or 8 cubic feet?

The dimensions you quote are for the EN5 enclosure, 5 cuft, I believe, not 8.

140L/28.32 = 4.9435 cuft.

Download WinISD and see if you don't get results similar to these:

Blk = 4 cuft.
Red = 5 cuft.
Blu = 8 cuft.

At 25W, you'll be safe with any of them to ~24 Hz, looks like, though I don't know what D140 Xmax actually is....

What happen if I play that cabinet with bigger amplifier?

And wich kind polywood I should use? 18mm or 25mm?

The bigger the box, the lower it will play (top,) but the less power handling capacity it will have at the lower frequencies (middle).

If you play the D140 in the big box with much more than 10 watts, you will approach the cone excursion limit of the driver at low frequencies (bottom).

That's very likely a major reason why JBL recommends the 4 cuft. box tuned to 40 Hz. It'll handle nearly 3 X the power at that frequency than the 8 cuft. box tuned to 28 Hz.

MDF is the material of choice for bass box construction.

Use minimum 3/4" thick material and plenty of bracing inside for boxes 4 cuft. and larger.

1" thick is better if you can obtain it and handle it.

Yeah, I get it.

But I saw smt confuse in that document: EN5 = 140l = 5cuft, but the dimensions are: 883mm x 521mm x 464mm = 214l approximately 8cuft.
It's similar to cabinet 8cuft of driver LE15a.

Those are exterior dimensions. It's the net enclosed volume that matters.

It appears that the front baffle is recessed for the grille, and there are also ports and bracing to be deducted....
