JBL publish a SMAART file with the recommended settings to be used on the DSC260 for the DMS-1 speaker sustem. Unfortunately, I can't read it because I don't have the software, and the demo version of the software does not seem to allow importing of files.

Can anyone read it for me and list the settings on this form? The file is "37_DMS1A.eqp" but I can't attach it here because of the ".eqp" extension. It can be found on the JBL site at: http://www.jblpro.com/pages/tunings/tunings_main.htm

Thanks for your help.

The settings for the DSC280 are in this file, (DSC260 should be the same): http://www.jblpro.com/pages/tunings/dms1.pdf

Thanks for your reply, John. Actually the DSC280 values are the reason that I am asking about the DSC260 parameters.

The 280 values quote a delay of "0.010" ms for the DMS-1. This is effectively a zero delay, as it represents only about 0.13 inches difference of woofer versus horn position. I would have thought that the DMS-1 geometry would result in significantly more that that.

Therefore, is the 280 delay value a typo? I just wanted to check the 260 data to confirm.

Hello Linear,
I have DSC280 and the delay is 0 for DMS1.
Linear is DMS1 user ??

Hello Herve M,

Thanks for confirming the delay value for the 280. I'd still like to know if JBL quote the same zero figure for the DSC 260 and DMS-1. Can anyone out there read the SMAART data for the 260 ??????

Unfortunately, I don't have a pair of DMS-1s. However, I just finished building a set of speakers that are very like them. Actually, they are probably more like the M9500 - wooden horn and two woofers in a MTM configuration. I'd post more information on them, but the drivers are not JBL and so perhaps not too welcome on this forum. The architecture is definitely JBL however - two cabinets, the top being somewhat smaller the the bottom - tuned to 35 Hz and 28 Hz respectively. Crossover is at 800 Hz.

I measured (acoustically) zero phase difference between the horn and woofers at the crossover point, which surprised me. The JBL numbers seem to confirm that this is correct, but I'd like to understand why the longer path in the horn structure (maybe 6" longer) does not cause the sound wave to lag the woofer signal by about 0.5 ms.

hi, how to unlock the display panel in SAFE mode of BSS DSC280?
key(?)+switch on

The 260 and 280 have different latency (digital processing delay) times.

That circuitry difference would cause the difference in the settings between the two devices.

Remember delay is phase :banghead: so let the fun begins.

Could the (basically) zero lag be net of the axial offset and the response time of the woofer and inserted filter?

6 inches?? it's less than 0.6

The 1400Nd woofer has a very deep frame compared to the LE14H-3 and others.

And the 2332 horn / 2450SL driver combo is almost the exact same depth so any delay will be very minor.

The digital delay latency is actually a little different between the 260, 260A and 280 so probably actual testing would be prudent.

BUT again, it's pretty small so worry about the other factors first...

And BTW - the new PT-H95 horn will fit into the 2332 cutout ( same H,W,D ) so an upgrade might be a thought...:)

Anyway, what relevance would those settings have to another set of components entirely?

enter the code: " JBL" (for jbl dsc280) or" BSS" (for bss 366 )

in the safe mode there is maximum protection and can not enter password. there is a way to unlock it is a combination of keys that must be pressed during the switch on. you know what?

hi,yes i offer them once at kapaza right, but i (lucky) didn't it,i talk veryyyy nicely with my wife ,and yes .... they stay now in my living room(before used in my small dancing ,orginally buy them for hobby, convinsed of the quality of jbl since my early years):),also i think it's a very rare item the jbl dms1,but even i never find the right settings for the dsc 280 ,they sounds crazyyyyyyy. In fact its a microbe, once you taste jbl ,for my there is no other legendary mark as jbl, that's sure.(sorry for my english) greetz from belgium.
