Hi Guys,
I am looking at a used L300 and the woofer is something something-H..seem like some one did a recone on it before cuz the dust cap look bigger then normal..anyways, the woofer seem to put out less bass then my L 100..Before taking them in for a complete recone,I am going to play around with the woofer to make sure it is the woofer that need to recone..is there any kind of special wiring for the woofer? please advice. The dust cap is kind of wrinkle,I am not sure if it have anything to do with the bass problem.thanks

Please pull the woofers and photograph them front and back. Someone here will likely see the problem if there is one. There is no "special" wiring. Being that these are vintage systems there are several things that could be wrong with them, but let's start by checking out your woofers.

It appears that someone "repaired" your woofers with after market recone kits. To get the proper performance you will need to have them reconed with JBL kits. These woofers are the 136H woofers which were the ferrite version of the alnico 136A woofers which were in the earlier L300s. These are identical to the 2231H. In any case the current replacement kit is the C8R2235. They cost about $175 ea. installed.

Mr Widget is right. A healthy reconed 136H with 2235H(spec) recone kit should look like this. Current price is now $180.00 per factory price list.
