Hey all,

For those that care to know. I played a July 4th gig where the sound company provided JBL SRX712M systems for the vocal monitors. I think Bo mentioned these some while back, but I must give my impression.

This is a 12" two-way with neo drivers: 2431H, 1.5" exit hi freq and 2262 12" lo freq.

This is by far the finest JBL live sound monitor I've experienced. The vocal intelligiblity was first rate...plenty of hi end to give the keyboards in my monitor plenty of natural sparkle. This is a 12" so the low end was full bodied down to around 70Hz...we didn't have much need for big bottom in the monitors so I'll say the the overall blending of the monitor tone was very natural...not harsh or overbearing at all...smooth.

It was a great experience to have these at my feet. Those musicians that sing and play and instrument will know exactly what I mean.

The 2431H will make a great hi freq driver for a DIY hifi or home theater setup....the 2435HPL better still...but at a much higher price for the Beryllium diaphragm.

My service manual doesn't list these diaphragms as being interchangeable and I haven't tried it...so I can't recommend that they are. I think some have said they are....but I don't have official info on it, so I'll stick to the JBL manual for now.

Nice one, edge! Thanks for the review.
My 5 are doing excellent, almost two-years into service.

Hey Bo...Edge

Maybe you guys can answer this, is the 2262 12" lo freq more of a mid-range design like the 2202 ? Is there any info on the speaker?

also, what is the crossever freq.?

Hamilton, I agree completely...

Hi Rick,

Crossover on the SRX712M is 1.2k. The TS parameters on the chart seem to have typos, but what seems to be the Xmax of 8mm would put that in woofer territory...I haven't had one in the shop to play with, and I haven't seen a freq resp chart on this driver... To take the kind of power it does at low freqs though I doubt it goes much beyond 2K...the cone would have to be pretty stout.

... I haven't seen a freq resp chart on this driver... Nor have I, edge, but the overall response of the SRX712M is remarkable (and worth reposting...).

As well, I've (re)posted the EQ settings I Smaart'ed for the SRX712M and saved into the Protea. These wedges (passive mode) require the least correction in the fewest frequencies of any wedges I use or have run across in the field.

Bo - are the major divisions on those EQ settings at 4dB? (+/- 12 dB?) And is the frequency response curve above it as per JBL or your own measurements? (Pre-EQ?)

+/-15 dB.

And, that IS the EQ - it's the graphical display of the Protea 4.24 RD remote control, from my measurements. Pretty good corroboration of the published JBL response curve.

Thanks for the info...that's what I needed...of course I said mid-range when I meant mid-bass.. looks very impressive..

I've been looking for a new updated 12" mid-bass ( 200 to 700).. what shape is the cone..is it like a bass ( 2206, 2226 etc) or more like the mid-bass/mid-range ( 2202, 2220, 2020 etc)

also, any details on the voice coil?

thanks

...any details...?All the detail available is at jblpro.com. Once there, Search for either the SRX712M or the 2262H - there is nothing singly on the woof, but it is cross-referenced in the Vertec lit.

I tried the search for 2262 and got nothing really, that's why I was asking you guys..

I'll try again

That's a nice piece of info on the system, but nothing on the 2262H in particular

I'll just talk to my JBL guy here, he'll know

thanks

However, I know it's "out there" somewhere - with any luck, something might show-up. ;)

I had nothing to do with it - only a watchman. The source is, well, the source...

at first I thought you had found it on the pro site, then I realized that Mr. BIG out of kindness of his heart put it out here.

Thanks to you both...I really may have missed it had you not said something Bo and of course without the source where would we all be....

Now, to run some numbers tonight...(OPPS, I'm not suppose to know that stuff.. I really am brain-dead with electronics)

I've had a personal project on the back burner for a few years and all I needed was a new 12" mid-bass to finish( didn't want to use the 2020 - more for mid-range) but really have had other things to do...who knows, maybe the sweet smell of saw dust may be in air this summer....

and thanks again to the source...:D
