studio master L 200,scratchy horn

ebayed a pair of JBL L-200,scratchy output from horn at about 10 watts,(amp is known to be good,technics su-v8)loose connection,bad horn,crossover problem?can anybody help?:banghead:

Any or all of the above, except the horn. You mean the compression driver ON the horn, of course.

Start with rotating the level adjustment on the crossover back and forth a couple of times. Is that making the sound?

Jiggle the connections there, too, while listening.

10 Watts is mighty loud. I suspect the compression driver diaphragm, though I hesitate to direct you there until these other possibilities are eliminated....
