I bought a set of L-100's today for cheap. They sound GREAT but I think I am going to try and fix the grills, polish up the woodwork and flip them. Take a look and any advice is always welcome.

OK......OK......

I am such an idiot, There is no way I am selling these. I have been running them in the master bedroom with the Fisher X-101-C and they sound FANTASTIC!!!!!

So, How do I fix that grille foam? Can I just pull it and re-glue and if so what kind of glue do I use? Is there a technique to getting it to lay down even?

TYIA!

They wont win any awards but they did clean up OK and I can live with them now. I am going to loan them to my friend Bill with the new Mac tube gear and those power hungry Maggies. Let him live with these for awhile and see if he doesnt change his mind about speakers.

Nice score. You have the -3 woofers and these were the last and best best version. Give 'em charge coupled crossovers, get 104H mids and some acoustistuff from Parts Express and you will be in heaven.

Hey Gord-E

Here is a link to a printable manual for your 4311's that BFD posted today

http://www.jblpro.com/pub/obsolete/4311.pdf

I just droped the L-100's off at Billys today. He is gonna live with them for a week or so. I am hoping they will get him thinking about going JBL rather than a another Mac 240.

On the 123A-1 woofer, the wires attach to the cone so that they are always at 12, 3, 6 or 9 o'clock depending on how they are installed. The wires attach to the 123A-3 cone are offset 45 degrees relative to the -1 so they will appear at 1:30, 4:30, 7:30 or 10:30 depending on how they are installed.

You can also take it out and look at the back of it, but they get stuck in there pretty good after a while so maybe you don't want to mess with it. The -3 has a more massive frame and IMHO a better low end than the -1.

Also, when I got my grills from sonofagun, he recommended flammable formica glue. I had no problem finding it at Lowe's.

make sure that your glue doesn't plug up the open cells in the foam...

ok, guy.

Good point, just apply glue around perimiter and a few small gobs in middle to stick to wooden portion of frame.
