Has some one in the forum ever heard bowth of them it seams that the
Century gold is the precursor of the LSR32 (6332)

they have the same volume
They are tune to the same Freq 32 and 33 hz
same power specs
same mid driver

the differences are
tweeter ti50 for century ti53 lsr
Woofer century 1200 some in the forum said it the same as in the 4xxx old driver LSR 252g dual voice coil etc
and the bigest dif is in the crossover
century carged coupled at 600 and 2800 3 0rder while LSR is 4 order at 250 and 2200

LSR has les port turbulence and competion

Century gold sold for 5000 usd and LSR for 3000 usd

i think that probably base on estetics like gold pated rims the enclosure and the crossover make the price difrence but it seems that the LSR is a more study model

some of the forum member think very highly for the century gold but i dont get the same impesion for the LSR

The main question is

is the charged coupled crossover and the freq cuts too blame
are higher crossover points better for home use and lower for studio

any coments

I think you could count on 1 hand those that have heard a Century Gold and even less of those who have heard both in the same listening enviorment. I always wanted a pair of Golds but $5K in the time they came out was not in my opinion worth the listen.

The Century Gold is definitely a step up from the 120Ti and I would take it over the LSR32

could you please be more detailed

The Century Gold was voiced for Home Hi-Fi whereas the LSR32 was voiced for the Studio environment. - JBL Source

In case anyone cares, here's the protoype of the Century Gold in a floor standing configuration.

come on Giskard is that being detailed

use your own words

And as you know all studios sound difrent as difrent home rooms
maybe the diffrence would be the highs would differ for varius reasons
lisenter fatige, level of room isolation etc

the speakers that this form most admires are studio voiced please explain

I ask you not to bother you. but it seem you are knolegble in this area + you have heard bouth

Thanks for the picture from the northrige tour cant wait to see the new 60th aniversary products

Hi Valentin, I have LSR32s also, although I have never heard the Century Golds, I suspect that in an A/B comparisson the LSRs may sound slightly "flat" as they do when compared with other "home" systems. Although I have no equipment (RTA / CLIO) etc I think they would measure very well. A very flat response indeed. (IMHO) Their best attribute has to be the midrange driver (C500G) and they can certainly take some punishment:D. They really are butt-ugly though:(.

I would have to listen to them side by side.
so you didnt

what your opinion very few pepole have the pleasure to have head both

and even less pepole have the opotunity to compere speakers in a blind test as harman

so even if you had them side by side there would be difrences because of placement
