Who knows more about this car tweeter?
is it a 044Ti variant as the T030 is a 095Ti?

Hi Guido,
Did you use these tweeters? How do they sound? Do they have an integrated crossover?

Does it say "Made in the USA" anywhere on the box?

These are made in Japan. Somebody who has more information about these?

Hi Guido,

Even after many years, I will try to answer your question with as many details as possible:

This is a JBL TC-25, pure titanium tweeter, which was introduced by JBL during the "golden ages" 1994-1995. It was the flagship Car Audio tweeter of JBL at that time. The "little brother" of this tweeter was TC-12. The tweeter was "Made in Japan" in all the implementations that I have seen so far and had quite impressive specs:
Frequency response (+/- 3dB) 3,500 Hz - 27,000 Hz
Nominal impedance 4 ohms
Sensitivity 91 dB SPL
Power Handling 50 Watts (continuous program) / 100 Watts (peak music)

This specific tweeter implementation (pure titanium dome), up to my knowledge, was never seen again in JBL Car Audio offerings/implementations in the future, probably due to:
1. High cost
2. Dome failures (excess sound volume/bad audio Amps/ wrong crossover setup/ bad cabling etc) and it was quite hard -up to impossible- to find replacements (you probably know how it goes with JBL spare parts)
3. Tweeter failure due to excess heat inside cars, which resulted at first with degraded sound quality (mostly due to degradation of the Tweeter damping foam pads) and at the end to a total failure of the driver.

Now, if I SHOULD compare it to the JBL Hi-Fi home audio speakers drivers, I PROBABLY COULD say that it was similar to the 052ti/046ti/044ti/035ti/027ti and any "diamond shape" pure titanium diaphragm tweeter.
The TC25 is definitely NOT a T030 or 095ti Titanium dome midrange equivalent.

Finally, the JBL TC-25 sounded amazing -at least for my ears or taste- and I would really love to buy any pair that may appear (obviously they are quite rare now after 23 years).

I’m pretty surr they were refered to as a car version of 035ti.

The size of the unit makes me wonder if this might be a close relative.
