I'm contemplating building a cab for my speaker, and using it for a bass amp project. Given that it is a recone, I'm not too worried about losing value if I blow it up.
Should I manage to do the unthinkable, how do I go about repairing it? Since the D130 kits are all but unattainable, what rebuild options are there? Can you build up a speaker, that is, increase its power handling capability? I am aware that the sound won't be like the original cone.
Go ahead and plug it in and let it hang out? See if it actually blows up first before I worry about rebuilding it?
Sell it as a recone and keep trying to find one that is still original? I kind of like the idea of a recone being 'newer' and hopefully having lots of life left to it.
