Hello, I am looking for an OEM pair of tweeters for the Santana or Santana II's. Thanks, Patrick

I had the Santana (orig w/15" biflex and phenolic tweeter) and I have somewhere in storage a pair of Santana II's.

I will check and see if I have 2 good tweeters in the II's. It has been sometime since I have seen them and need to check if they are working and what shape they are in!

Do you need both, or the Santana original phenolic tweeter?

Just the phenolic tweeter One of them is working but I was hoping to find a pair, just in case. I was going to PM you either here or at AK but I decided to post here rather than PM'ing. I sure appreciate your effort :applaud:

Is nothing more than a general purpose phenolic tweeter and you could use one from just about any manufacturer with about the same size magnet and frame.

I doubt the differences are that great. I used to strip speakers down years ago for the phenolic tweeters and tried them in differennt configurations and they are all quite close to each other.

Smaller magnet models will have lower sensitivity and power handling.

Hope this helps! Santana II tweeters are different animal!

Thanks again for the information Ron. Do you have a pair of the phenolic tweeters that you would be willing to sell? Would the Santana II's work with the origional Santana's x-over and woofer? Would it also bolt right in? I have been given advice to try differant a tweeter (dome) type. I know that the santana was not Altec's finest effort and I am sure that some of the newer tweets would probably sound better than the phenolic's. I am using the Santana's in the bedroom system with a pair of HH Scott 99D mono's and the bass and midrange is actually quite good. The one tweeter that is out sure does stick out compared to the one that is working. Any further help would be greatly appreciated Ron. PDG

Include the measurements of the tweeter so I can check with my source if he has a matched pair of working phenolics that will fit!

I may be a few days in reply as I have to go out of town for a few days, I will get back with you then!

Ron ;)
