There is a pair of JBL 4343 speakers ending in hours on eBay.
(Item number: 7410072681). They are located in Colorado Springs are are reasonably priced. The need new surrounds and a pair of 2308 lenses, and a little bit of veneer work...and that's about it.
I'd grab them...if I was closer and didn't already have a pair in my listening room!
I hope a JBL lover gets these and restores them to new condition.

Tom

DO NOT take a second chance offer on these speakers because they have been purchased by me and are in transit back to Texas. I just received another "Second Chance" offer on these speakers from this same A$$hole and it's obvious they don't have a clue who actually bought them.

it is amazing isn't it? I wish Al Gore had been more "Forward Thinking" when he invented the internet! He should have invented the "Internet scumbag de-baller!

I have to say that the Al Gore thing is getting a bit stale. As well knowing what we know now, I would take Al Over Dick AKA Darth Vador Cheney.
How many things has Cheney said that have turned out to be :bs:

Sorry John, I didn't mean it to be political. My statement as I remembered it was how one person was taking credit for something that wasn't so. I am a TV media guy and I remember the take off on Saturday Night live. My comment had nothing to do with my political affiliation. I was merely pointing out a satire on the Internet that some of us were familiar with and the need to destroy those that abuse a great thing ( as our second chance seller) the internet is. I personaly could give a flying shit about Democrats or Republicans as I feel they are all corupt Scumbags when I look at the field right now, again that is my take on it. I just don't feel comfortable with either an Al or a Dick.

Well I have to agree with that, not much to choose from!!!:(

I'm just looking to understand how some E-bay transactions turn out. How can a second chance be sent to multiple bidders? Assuming that these speakers didn't get sold to the highest (but unshippable?) bidder in China then I would assume it would, perhaps, fall back to a single runner up. I trust all will turn out well for the actual buyer of the 4343's and to please let us know what came to pass.

This occurs when some jerk scans ebay for an opportunity to scam somebody by offering bogus second chance offers to unsuspecting people. I acquired these speakers legitimately through the "Second Chance" route and have received numerous bogus offers from the bad guys. These guys are just hoping somebody will fall for their bull$hit.

Second chance offer just arrived in my inbox today for an auction on some Tannoys. No surprise there then except that the auction still had 15 minutes to run! Ha!

It's one reason sellers make bidding "private" on the listings, to protect bidders from being approached by scammers as well as other sellers.

However, both the "private" and the "preapproved" options in eBay listings themselves afford unique opportunities for exploitation by scammers.

eBay and environs have provided an exposition of human nature worthy of serious academic research and review.

[As well as a buncha jail time....]

Just called the shipper & they'll be here "Come Monday" so I went out and bought a dolly rated @ 600# because the speakers @ 185# each plus the special shipping crate = 550# total. If I wasn't so damn busy with other Land Surveying projects I'd be chewing my finger nails waiting for them to show up! BTW the wife's still doesn't know that they're coming... BWTF she'll get over it... it's not like I'm replacing her with a younger woman!

The crate w/ the jewels has arrived. The guy in Colorado Springs did an excellent job packing & crating & BAX did real well with the shipping for the lowest price. I'm getting the evil eye from the wife so I'd better log off while I still have a pair! But I do need a pair of 2308 lenses or something similar.

As advertised on ebay the all the speakers need new surrounds. When I pulled the 2121's the "O" ring came loose and I'm going to need some advice on either replacing them or how to get them back in place when they appear to have shrunk to a size smaller than the opening.

Are you talking about the vinyl "noodle" gasket?

If so, I've been able to renew intact ones by soaking in hot water. Clean it up, if required, install on the rear of the driver, and reinstall in the cabinet....

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. Thanks so much for the tip on that. As soon as the 2121's & 2231A's get new surrounds put on them I'll give your advice a try. Plus it was nice to see "tinned" ends on all the speaker wire leads... been a while since I've seen this. It's good to get back to the "good ole days"
