got them, circa 1972, while going to college in utah....they were about as deep as my L200s, but were about another foot or so wider....and the front was vertical (not sloped back like the 200s).....they were walnut cabinets, and the front had a walnut lattice with strips of wood that were about as thick as a little finger

i got into a financial bind and, rather than hit my parents up for help, i traded them for my L200s, making just enough $ in the swap to keep me afloat.....

after posting up last weekend about my old JBLs i kept wondering what model those old, big ones were....(wish i still had them :( )

Hi Lee6,

do you remember what the driver complement looked like behind those lattice grillework? Did they look like these (only ones I could think of that were wider than L200's.

Hi Lee6,

Glad to help. Here's a better and color picture of the Sovereign I enclosure. I'm sure the Oak looked a lot like Walnut to younger eyes. this is from the JBL 1971 Consumer speakers catalog in the Lansing Heritage Library. You can access from the link third from the right at the top of the page.

Regards,

Bart
