I guess I already know what people are going to say, the Studio L series?
Is JBL coming out with new series anytime soon? I don't want to go out and buy a whole system and find out they're coming out with something new six months later.

By the way if anyone from JBL is reading this, the silver "feet" on the L series, umm, how to put this nicely, only Star Trek fans would love it. (not that there is anything wrong with star trek)

The XPL 160's mids are the best I've heard.

I think he's talkng "price-wise" when he says midrange, not midrange driver. So then I guess it comes down to what price is considered "midrange", and whether talking about current product or vintage...

LOL, I should have read the entire thread, normally when I read midrange, I think, um IDK a transducer, or the middle frequencies :)/ Never a term used for the price of something,. to me there's cheap, tolerable, and too expensive to touch. I'm in the tolerable range currently, think thats where he is too.

What do you consider to be a midrange price? The lower end of Array, Performance and TiK could all be vaible options and I consider them better than any of the Studio L series.

I deeply curious about the Project Array series. But doesn't that seem like a big jump in price. There seems like they are missing a series just above the Studio L series but below the Project Array and Performance series.

Project array > $3000e
Performance > 1700e

Studio L > $800e

Maybe something in the $1200 each range for the LCRs, so the whole system plus surrounds and subs could come in under $6000

Bear in mind that a Performance Series PT800 is a response restricted speaker that shouldn't be used below 80Hz. When it's coupled in a stack with the PS1400, it becomes a four-way system running from 28Hz to 22kHz. This combo costs about $3500. However, the www.harmanaudio.com prices will reduce this by a third (PT800 $1050; PS1400 $1119).

The three-way Project Array Series 1400 BG runs from 32Hz to 40kHz. It costs about $5500.

Then there's the TiK Series, where the four-way Ti10K (30Hz-30kHz) will run $3500 and the three-way Ti6K (38Hz-30kHz) will be $2500. There's no decent sub anymore in the TiK Series.

The HT Series runs $550 for the mains (55Hz-20kHz) and $2000 for the terrific sub (down to 25Hz!). A 5.1 set will be just under $5000. If you like Bi-Radial® horns, this is the ticket.

The cost order in my mind is this:

Project Array Series
Performance Series/TiK Series
HT Series
Studio L Series
