San Fernando Valley From Santa Monica Mountains

I was having a hard time coming up with a photo to introduce the 2003 version of the Lansing Heritage Tour (LHT) since none seemed to capture the scope of that tour. I eventually settled on the above photo of the San Fernando Valley as being as good as any, plus it captures a rare, perfectly clear day in Southern California. The San Fernando Valley is home to the current JBL, in addition to being an early home to Lansing Sound in 1948. Most of the contacts we met with during this tour were located here as well. For those unfamiliar with the Los Angeles area the "Valley" is north of downtown L.A. and separated by the Santa Monica Mountains.

The 2003 LHT started on March 29 and extended to April 10, 2003. It was the third, of approximately annual tours, that we have undertaken since opening this site. These tours are an ongoing attempt to document the history and heritage of James B. Lansing. This was our most comprehensive tour to date, involving interviews with a dozen contacts and visits to numerous Lansing related facilities. The following eight pages form a photo documentation of that tour along with some basic background information. The main output of this tour will be articles that will be developed from the nearly 20 hours of recorded interviews. This will take time and will likely occur gradually over the next year. In the interim, the following pages provide an overview of the 2003 LHT.
